Feeding and Social Skills Groups

Feeding and Social Skills Groups

At our practice, we're excited to introduce our upcoming feeding and social skills group events. These groups are designed to provide a casual, fun, and educational environment for children to build essential skills while connecting with peers who may be experiencing similar challenges.

Our feeding groups offer a supportive setting for children who struggle with food selectivity, texture aversions, or mealtime anxiety. Social skills groups focus on developing pragmatic language abilities, turn-taking, conversation skills, and understanding social cues in a naturalistic setting. These groups are open to both current clients and families in the community interested in our services or seeking supportive social opportunities for their children.

To register your interest in these groups, simply contact us through our website, email, or phone. Please provide the following information:

• Child's name

• Child's age

• Type of group interested in (feeding or social skills)

• Any allergies your child may have (especially important for feeding groups)

We'll add you to our mailing list and inform you of upcoming group sessions via email, keeping communication to a minimum and only when necessary.

Group sessions are priced at $20 per child. We kindly ask parents to be actively involved during the sessions, helping to manage their child's behaviour and participation. While our team will facilitate the activities, we rely on parents to ensure their children stay engaged with the group, as we cannot provide individual supervision for each child.

By participating in these groups, children and parents alike will have the chance to meet others in the community, share experiences, and build a supportive network. Our speech pathologists will facilitate these sessions, ensuring that each child receives guidance and encouragement while engaging in enjoyable, skill-building activities.

Useful tip: Group settings can sometimes feel overwhelming for children who struggle with social skills or feeding issues. Before attending a group event, talk to your child about what to expect. You might even practice some social scenarios or discuss strategies for managing anxiety. Remember, it's okay to take breaks if needed, and our team will be there to support both you and your child throughout the experience.
